Below is the content of flyers handed out before
the Langtoft meeting. Answers are expected to be
available on many of the questions by the 6th August.
Further to the meeting of the Town Council in Market
Deeping, a group of concerned local residents have
got together and will try to put the following questions
to the SKDC representatives at the meeting tonight.
We also understand that we will not be allowed
very long to ask these questions, and so we have
kept them as concise and to the point as possible.
The questions below do not cover all areas of concern
and are only some initial questions that we feel
need to be asked regarding the proposed site - there
will be more meetings and many more questions to
come. We have also arranged a public address system
to be present in Langtoft so that you can hear the
answers to the questions.
The questions that will be put to the SKDC &
Council representatives tonight are:
- A desk top study has been prepared outlining the
other sites considered and rejected when arriving
at the proposed sites. Can this study be brought
into the public domain so we can understand the
reasons why other sites have been rejected?
- What criteria will be used for reducing the number of proposed sites from 15 sites to 1?
- What assessments have been made to evaluate and nominate each proposed site?
- The report to the cabinet (2nd July 2007) states that crime and disorder implications are "Minor". Can you explian the basis for, and the research behind this statement?
- How do you see the Travellers site adding value to the Community?
- Will our local schools, doctors & amenities be able to cope with a traveller's site?
- It states that "Compulsory Land Purchase Orders" may be used. Can you explain the grounds and circumstances that these orders would be used.
We are a group of concerned residents of the Deepings
who have come together to campaign against the travellers
site on behalf of everyone in the Deepings and WE NEED YOUR HELP. If you have an opinion and
want to get involved or can offer assistance in
the campaign, you can register on our forum and make
sure you register your e-mail address. Please also
comment you would like to help and your e-mail address
will be passed on to the campaign organisers. When
registering, you can elect to "not display
my e-mail address" this will prevent your e-mail
address from displaying in the forum. If you indicate
you would like to help we will forward your address
on. If you do not clearly indicate an offer of help,
your e-mail address will not be passed on.
The next meeting regarding the proposed Traveller
site will be at the Deeping Leisure Centre on Friday
27th July at 7pm. Please come to this meeting to
show you care.
